Hugo as started to play guitar at the age of 15. He had previously attended a private Music Academy in Portugal for several years, which introduced him to world of music and especially classical music. There, he learned preliminary music theory, ear training, music analysis, sense of rhythm, sight reading, singing, etc. He also learned to play piano, flute and percussion instruments and participated in several events promoted by the school for it's students.

Being a self-taught person by nature, he learned to play guitar by himself, and along the way, created and joined several bands.

After several years of playing only as an hobby, in which he learned and incorporated the play-style of several world renowned guitarists like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Marty Friedman among others he became committed in becoming a professional musician.

He then restarted to learn everything from the beginning, using the internet as his main learning tool, he learned: applied music theory for guitar, advanced guitar techniques and exercises, sense of melody,
learning to adapt other music styles not related to his own and/or to the electric guitar, among other things. In 2007 he started taking guitar lessons with the internationally renowned electric guitar virtuoso, recording artist and composer Tom Hess, which lead him to enroll also in his "Music Careers Mentoring Program" classes to further improve him as a person, guitarist and music professional.

Since then he has become an active member of the Portuguese Heavy-Metal band "Attick Demons" who just entered studio to record their debut album "Atlantis" to be released in 2009. This album will feature a special guest, Paul DiAnno, first and former Iron Maiden’s vocalist. To accomplish this, his band has organized with a promoter, a live show featuring Paul DiAnno on vocals and “Attick Demons” as his playing band on the first ever show Paul has done in Portugal.
Hugo has also taken part of several Compilation CDs with other international recording artists and is writing and recording his own instrumental debut album to be released sometime along the year 2009 and also a personal heavy-metal project yet to be announced.

Being an unrestless person while pursuing his dreams, it can be said that, this...is only the beginning!...
